THE GENERAL STAFF BUILDING IN ST. PETERSBURG
THE GENERAL STAFF BUILDING IN ST. PETERSBURG, THE FLATIRON BUILDING IN NEW YORK AND THE NEW PROJECT OF THE BUSINESS CENTER “ACADEMIC”.
One of the techniques we use is to turn the most difficult places into powerful interior-forming elements.
Professionalism lies in how you are able to get out of difficult situations and the more often you meet them, the more ready-made solutions you have.
Why are we in our profession? - the age-old question, to which everyone in our field has their own answer.
The trick with double columns in a pool is that, in addition to echoing similar elements in a building, they play a very important role in engineering. We have hidden all the necessary air-handling between the columns that go to the ceiling. Later, we used this technique in other pool projects, which allowed us to get away from the urbanization of interiors. A kind of know-how in the design of pools.
What do these projects have in common? Some time ago I attended a lecture by architect Yuliy Borisov where he talked about the designed Business Center “Academic”. In the design, they used a rather effective “Theatrical” technique. One part of the building plan is straight, and the back goes in a semicircle.
Due to this shape, the facade ceases to be material from certain viewing points. As an example of such a reception at the lecture, the Iron Building in New York (built in 1855) was shown to us.
